We survived our trip to AGPC yesterday! DH dropped me, DD, and my mom off right at 10:00. I was surprised how many girls were there already waiting to go in on a school day! We homeschool so I thought we could avoid the crowds by going during the week!
We went to the concierge desk to get our Star Card and asked for a personal shopper and they sent Ingrid to help us. She was absolutely wonderful. I know I had already read great things about her on this board, but she was such a great help. We went upstairs to the Jess section right away, since DD wanted to get her and her outfit to wear during her photo shoot. We bought Jess, her starter collection and the girl sized outfit, PJs, and slippers. I went through about 5-6 boxes to find a "good" Jess. Some of the wigs just didn't look right. Then we went to do the photo shoot. There was no wait at the time so we got right in and out.
While we were waiting for the picture to be ready for pick up, we went upstairs again and looked around at the rest of the AGT area. I bought a pair of AGP jeans (to go with the AGPC tshirt we already had) and the pink beach boots for Jess. My mom bought the Butterfly Brocade and Tropical Breezes outfit and also Licorice for DD. For those who were wondering if the pink boots were officially part of Jess's collection, I don't think they are. They weren't anywhere near the Jess area.
We went back downstairs to pick up the magazine from the photo shoot. The magazine cover wasn't what I expected. All they did was print out the picture and attached it in front of the cover of the current issue of American Girl Magazine, but it did turn out cute and DD loved it.
Then we went downstairs and looked at the historical collections. Wow, if we had any historicals it would have been easy to spend a lot of $$ down there! The displays were awesome!
We still had another 1/2 hour until our lunch reservations so we headed back upstairs to the AGT area to look around some more. I decided to get the white tennis shoes and socks to go with the jeans (since Jess is our first AG sized doll and all her outfits had sandals!). DD convinced my mom to buy Coconut for my 4yo DS, so I bought the Seaside Friends Set for them to share. Even though Licorice and Coconut aren't part of Jess's story, it looks cute with the rest of her beach accessories.
Lunch was delicious, and we were lucky enough to get a window table. My mom had the broccoli & mushroom quiche, I had the chicken pot pie, and DD had the AG picnic lunch with the mini hamburger and hotdog--too cute! The desserts were wonderful!
While we were eating, Ingrid tracked us down and brought DD a gift bag with some AG goodies in it: a bottle of bitty baby shampoo, a beach bag with shells and a frisbee, a laptop for Jess to send emails back home, and a "make your own clutch" sewing kit. That was so sweet of her!
After lunch we had DH come pick us up, since we were all shopped out at that point. We were only there 4 hours but did plenty of damage! Then this morning I went and placed another order online (hanging my head in shame). DD had wanted to buy the Jess charm with her own money, but I didn't know they didn't sell them at AGPC, and I wasn't going to pay $4.95 to ship a $6.00 charm, so I ordered it, along with the turquoise fold up chair, and some clearanced Hopscotch Hill books so I could use the code. I'm finally done--no more AG purchases for us! Anyone heard that before? LOL
I ended up not taking very many pictures at AGPC even though I planned to. This is my first album, so I hope I did this right and you can see it. There are a few pics from AGPC, and they quite a few of Jess in her new outfits after we got home. Jess's braids didn't last long. Her hair was already messed up a little out of the box, and with DD carrying her around all day they got pretty messy by the time we got home.
I read the whole book last night, and without giving anything away, I now understand why they made the things that are part of her collection but not other items that I would have liked to see before I ready her story.

That's a great idea giving gift bags with retired leftovers like Kailey's bag and the berry laptop that came with the blue backpack.
